Always-on activity log—how it works

The Always-on Activity Log automatically tracks every action taken in your QuickBooks Online company. All of your company's accounting activity is logged and saved for the life of your subscription to QuickBooks Online.

Activity Log is Always On

Every time a user makes a change to your company data, a record is kept in the Activity Log. This log cannot be turned off by anyone. Why? Because QuickBooks Online is always "on" — that's one of the benefits of doing accounting the modern way. Traditional desktop accounting software just can't offer this because someone can always turn off the Audit Trail. Needless to say, this feature is not available in Quicken or QuickBooks desktop software.

Single-click Access

A single click enables you to access the history of an activity. If the activity is a transaction, the history is an audit trail that shows you exactly what data was changed and when. If the activity involves a list item, such as a customer, vendor, or employee record, the history shows you each date and time the record was changed.

It's Easy to Find the Information You Need

For example, you can search by user name or timeframe to locate a specific transaction. You can also filter the activity log to show only activities such as logins, or changes to recurring templates, and so on.
