QuickBooks Online automatically backs up your data at no extra charge.

Several Layers of Protection

The QuickBooks Online engineering team put a great deal of thought into creating a highly reliable data storage system. We designed the application and server architectures to help minimize the need to rely upon backup data. But, should the unexpected ever occur, your Quickbooks Online data is protected using the following methods:

• All QuickBooks Online data is stored on "mirrored" disks. This means that each time you add or edit data, it is written to two hard disk drives. Even if one drive fails, you can reasonably expect no noticeable degradation in performance.
• Our system employs a third hard drive to which QuickBooks Online data is periodically copied. This protects you against any problems that might affect the mirrored disks.
• We perform backups to tape each night. These tapes are periodically moved offsite to a remote location.

For an extra layer of comfort and control, you can also download a local copy of your data to your hard-drive.
