Plus feature Budgets are available as a Plus feature.

QuickBooks Online's Budgets feature can help you better understand your business. You can use budgets to estimate future income and expenses, and create "what if?" scenarios. As time goes by, you can run reports to compare actual income and expense activity with your budget projections.

Easy to Create, Read, and Use

It's easy to create a budget — QuickBooks Online helps you through the process. You can create detailed budgets to track account amounts in the way that's right for your business, such as by location, class, or customer. QuickBooks Online budgets use a format similar to a spreadsheet, with a horizontal row for each of your income and expense accounts, and vertical columns for each month or quarter. They are easy to read and use.

Save Time with Handy Shortcuts

QuickBooks Online helps speed you through the budgeting process. To save time, you can:

  • Base your initial budget on data from a previous fiscal year or from an existing budget.
  • Simply enter a few annual or quarterly amounts and let QuickBooks Online calculate the monthly averages in-between.
  • Enter a single amount and copy it across the remainder of a row in seconds.
